Zycortal Treatment for Addison's Disease. A smaller initial dose might be best.

Here are a couple of links to interesting articles regarding treatment of Addison's disease with Percorten- V (DOCP).  DOCP is the same as Zycortal.

This outlines the fact that most dogs with Addison's disease need much less replacement injectable mineralocorticoid hormone that the drug sheet recommends. It is worth reading and discussing with your vet if your dog hasn't yet started Zycortal treatment or if your dog's electrolyte levels are above or below what they should be, following a dose of Zycortal.

Thanks for this Jo - I am going to take them along to my vet when Jenny transitions - I think will be end of July ..........he has used Percoten before but when we initially spoke, he was against low dose - said could send her into a crisis - so I am going to have my work cut out convincing him, but he seems a decent guy so fingers crossed.
