A new study has recently been published which may be of interest to standard poodle owners here.

"The effect of genetic bottlenecks and inbreeding on the incidence of two major autoimmune diseases in standard poodles, sebaceous adenitis and Addison's disease."

Hi Pam, thanks for that link. 

SP's are lucky that they still remain genetically diverse (according to this paper) .  There are many pure pred breeds that do not have that luxury.  I hope the SP breeders take note and learn from this paper because once the diversity is lost - so is the breed, and I fear this is happening in a lot of pedigree dogs and largely due to the use of popular sires - and their sons - oh and their sons etc!
