I know that this Group is for Immune Problem advice but there is such a wealth of knowledge within, I wonder if I could ask a questionto see if anyone can help.
)
As well as Jazz, I have another Golden who is 8 years old and apart from 'managed'   Colitis problems, he is otherwise healthy.
Jazz has always had slightly weaker muscle mass on the inside of one of his legs and though I have had an Orthopaedic Vet/Physio's opinion who said (that there didn't seem to be any problem, i.e. Cruciate etc.,) but he clearly needed his muscle building up on the one side more and there maybe, only a maybe, be a slight issue with his knee on that side he thought.  No need for further investigation but he did give me a series of exercises to do over one month, when we went back to see him.   I rigidly adhered to the plan and when we went back, the muscle mass had increased well.
I have to admit that I haven't kept this up, thinking that with better exercise anyway, this should be maintained but it hasn't and so we are back to the exercises.   He is not lame as such but I was a bit concerned today when he seemed to hobble for a split second.  I thought that he may have a thorn in his foot but didn't and after I had examined all feet, he troted on perfectly normally.
They have been hedge cutting around here and they frequently get thorns in their feet - my husband thought he may have stepped on something sharp.   This doesn't happen frequently and in the past, when he has lifted his leg up, it's usually because there has been a thorn stuck.
Anyway...I thought I would give him a supplement to help and I wondered if anyone out there used a product they could recommend.
I have been told that Yumove is good?  and also there is something called Serquin?

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gwyneth,
I've used both Synflex and Riaflex - at the moment my pointer x setter is on Riaflex as it seems to have all the ingredients in it he should need for his joint problems.
I also know people who use Yumove, Arthriaid, Cortaflex, turmeric,  green lipped mussel - there are loads of joint supplements out there.
For me the toss up was between Yumove and Riaflex.

Thank you Penel

I would try Riaflex but looking at their website they seem to have many products and I have no idea which one to try.
Maybe Yumove might be the one to start with first??   I do like the sound of Riaflex though.

Did you see this comparison bit
http://www.riaflex.co.uk/ambrowCart/products/canine-products/RIA-CAN-JP/#4-tab

the other really good one is Glycoflex.

one of my friends emailed the lady who runs Riaflex about it and here is here email copied.

I emailed Kate at Riaflex, explained that I've been giving Glycoflex III & would I need to add Green Lipped Muscle if I gave him Riaflex Joint Plus - this is her reply

Joint plus HA is the strongest joint supplement on the market by quite some way and because of this we have had huge success with it. Most dogs will do exceptionally well on this product alone. Green Lipped Mussel is designed to be fed alongside joint plus. The only reason I have not added it in is because I didn't want to mess with an already very successful Joint plus formulation. A lot of dog owners do choose to feed it alongside the Joint Plus but this is not strictly necessary.

If you are not already a user of riaflex I would usually suggest just starting with Joint Plus HA so that you can see the exact benefits that this brings. If you want to you can add in the Green Lipped Mussel at a later date. Of course if budget is no issue there is added benefit by feeding the GLM alongside but i am all to aware of how expensive feeding becomes. Joint plus HA is your foundation product that provides everything your dog should need. If you have the budget then yes adding GLM does hold some extra benefit but it not necessarily a necessity.

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have any more questions. It is my pleasure to help.

Thank you Penel for sending that link.

I have to say that I did think I might use Yumove to start with - thinking it was the less expensive (and in fairness I had heard good things about it) however, looking at the price comparisons, it seems I was wrong.

I did like their site and found it ever so informative, so I shall give it a go.

Many many thanks for your help.

Yumove has been brilliant for my bearded collie who was really stiff in his front legs. He had double dose for a few weeks as they recommend  to start with and now he jogs along when on his lead and out walking. We are amazed at the improvement and much cheaper than going to the vets...check out the price on the internet as they vary greatly
