I have suggested a couple of times to someone, that they think about joining this group, as they have a Golden Retriever with AIHA.
We are both on another 'Breed' Group, which is how I got to know about her.   She had written for help or some additional knowledge via this Group.   Her condition, is of course different to Harley's (thrombocytopaenia) but I have always said, if she wants to 'talk' I'm here - with a certain hesitance in passing over my own limited experience with the problem, for obvious reasons but I just know how beneficial an 'ear' can be, to see us through worry.

She has received one or two responses from member in the group we are in, who have had dogs with the problem - one I know quite well and this bitch did recover, though needed three transfusions and remained on a maintenance dose of steroids thereafter.

I haven't pushed joining this Group but I really think she needs some moral support.  Anyway, I have mentioned it again but I am not sure she will - perhaps lack of time, I don't know.    So,  I would like to ask permission to forward to her a few of the 'Fact' sheets that have been prepared.  Obviously I would never ever pass on Group member correspondence but I am talking about the sheets that Jo has produced at the start of the Forums for all to read.
I know that you have confirmed it is o.k. to reproduce the Steroid-dose sheet already thank you.

Many thanks

Thank you for that and I have sent her the intro page to the condition and the dose chart.
I have had another e-mail tonight to say that her husband had to collect some meds from the Vet yesterday and amongst them was something called Hepatosyl Plus 100mg.  She hadn't received a call about them but instructions to give 4 tablets daily.  She asked if I knew what they were and if we were using them.
I assumed, because of their name,  they were liver conditioning tablets maybe (i.e. milk-thistle) but she has asked if I know anything about them or if anyone else may !!

I asked her if she had had a liver enzyme test and she has just replied and said yes and that it was 'high'....

She has also said that she will try and sort out 'joining' tomorrow.

Many thanks

Not knowing all the details it is difficult to answer too much. But I will say that my vet prescribed Hepatosyl tablets (not sure of the dosage amount) to my elderly dog with liver problems. BUT my AIHA dog (who recovered) was never prescribed anything for the high liver enzymes. The steroids will increase the liver enzymes and when they are reduced the enzymes should reduce to normal again. I would want to check out the benefit of giving the Hepatosyl at this time. My AIHA dog's treatment was some years ago now and maybe this is what given nowadays.
