Wondering if anyone else's dog who experienced iatrogenic Cushings and the hair loss which accompanies it, did not have the hair re-grow?
My shih tzu lost most of her dorsal hair, has been off pred for about 2 years now, and is still partly bald.  :(

She has been tested for hypothyroidism and is a bit on the low end of the normal range, but her vets aren't convinced it is that causing the alopecia. All other bloods are good and her skin is healthy. I'm just curious if anyone else has had this occur after several months of prednisone treatment?

Has anyone's dog been on an immunosuppressive dose of cyclosporine for a year or more? Did they develop any intolerance to it?

Mine will be at the one year mark in a week but has been having diarrhea/ soft stool/ wet burps and regurgitation during the last two weeks. She is on EOD dosing and the problems are always on the day she gets the pill. It has always been given with food to prevent vomiting and side effects, and in the morning.

Her gait is good (she's on it for IMPA) and there is no fever. I've emailed her vet to discuss as she is due to come off it at the end of the month anyways, but thought I'd ask here as well considering the experience and wealth of knowledge everyone has.

Now that EOD dosing of cyclosporine has begun in my dog Clover, I can see that it was the cyclo causing her crazy hunger! That is definitely not a side effect I can find anywhere online. She's been on EOD for one week now, and is no longer barking incessantly at us during meals nor waking me up at 5am every morning for breakfast. Hopefully this means she can lose a bit of the weight she's gained!

Has anyone else ever experienced this side effect in their dog (she has been off pred for 4 months)?

Hi, I'm glad to have found your forum. I was searching for something like it 2 months ago when my 12 yr old Shih Tzu was first diagnosed with idiopathic IMPA, and only just came across it now when googling chinese herb treatments (TCVM).

She has been stable since treatment was initiated, what a scary time that was. Not knowing what was wrong, seeing her do so poorly, seeing specialists, etc. I'm glad to say she's done great since, sees a TCVM vet for acupuncture and herbs, as well as internal med every few weeks for check ups and bloodwork. The acupuncture has really helped her comfort level, and she is not as restless at night.
